Fish Time Company in cooperation with the Ministry of Fishering Industry of Senegal is actually developing a program: "Aquaculture development in Senegal." This planed project is supported by the Government of Senegal.
The company works in close collaboration with the University of Dakar (Dakar University) and the Russian Scientific and Research Institute of Fisheries and Oceanography (VNIRO). Together they have defined their goals, objectives, coordinated plan for the development of the mentioned project. For the first stage of the research they formed a group of scientists and specialists both from Russia and Senegal who have practical experience in the field of aquaculture.
During the investigations of the coastal shelf and river deltas they have gathered samples and studied the aquatic environment. The processing of the data provided them the information on the most promising areas for placing plantations of mussels, anadary, mangrove oysters and shrimps.
Actually they are preparing the site for the placement of the pilot farm on which it will be possible to conduct further research works and study the technologies of growth of the most promising aquaculture species. The second phase of research is planned too.
In the nearest future the company will open in Senegal a research laboratory for analysis of fish and seafood products on the base of the University of Dakar (including biotoxins). After completing the studies concerning the technology of aquaculture species' growth the company plans to place industrial farm and build a recycling facility certified to the European standard with the volumes processed 1500-2000 tons per year.
This ongoing project for the development of aquaculture products is supported by the Government of Senegal.
